Abstract: To understand how the gender ratio in Maharashtra has changed over many years, this study looks at statistics from 2011 to the present and makes some forecasts. The researchers used both methods to study gender differences in urban and rural communities. Despite better sex equality, both migration and economic reasons are decreasing the proportion of women in urban settings. It is evident from the numbers that social and cultural conditions in rural areas encourage men and women to play similar roles. Literacy trends demonstrate that differences between males and females are being reduced, mainly because of the growth in female literacy. However, unemployed people and those who are poorly paid are still facing big challenges in society. Other studies confirm that policies should be focused since they reveal there is a significant difference in the number of men and women between city and rural areas. Among the recommendations are improvements to budgets based on gender, widening access to vocational courses, developing healthcare facilities, and promoting gender-friendly urban planning. To keep gender balance in Maharashtra in the long run, the study says healthcare, education, and financial empowerment should go together. In order for future research to make methods more inclusive, it should explore the ways that conventional norms, work opportunities, and government actions shape gender distribution.
