Violence Against Women: A Critical Study of Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s Works
Author(s): Dr. Suresh Kumar
Abstract: Violence towards women is not limited to any one country—it happens everywhere around the world. It is deeply rooted in the way many societies are built. Even today, this violence is one of the most common and widespread violations of basic human rights. When women face violence, it doesn’t just hurt them physically—it also affects them deeply on an emotional and mental level. This kind of abuse shows how society uses power to keep women in a lower position and control them. Many countries have made laws to stop violence against women, but the problem still continues. This is because those laws are not always followed properly, and people’s attitudes, which are often unfair to women, remain unchanged. In many situations, women do not even report the violence they face. This happens because they are afraid, feel ashamed, or think no one will help them. Silence and stigma make it worse.
