Author(s): Devanand
Abstract: The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 [5], introduced after a gap of 34 years, signifies a bold and ambitious reform in the Indian education system. It addresses key structural, pedagogical, and policy-level gaps to transform India into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society. The policy lays strong emphasis on holistic, multidisciplinary, and learner-centric education while integrating traditional knowledge with modern pedagogies. This paper explores the foundational principles, structural reforms, and long-term vision of NEP 2020, assessing its role in fostering inclusive and quality educational development in the context of a "New India." A visual representation in the form of a pie chart provides insight into the major thrust areas of the policy. The article concludes with a critical reflection on implementation challenges and the roadmap for future reforms.
