Abstract:
In the modern era, it can often be seen that adolescents are rapidly changing their level of adjustment at the social level, and their personal behaviour is also adjusting to modernity. Modern technology has such a deep impact on adolescents that their mental state is adversely affected along with their physical state. An important factor in the adverse effect on mental and physical health is substance abuse, which causes adverse results like depression, frustration, stress and loneliness in adolescents, due to which adolescents lose control over themselves. Excessive consumption and addiction of drugs has a bad effect on their interaction with family and society. The current study has examined the effect of loneliness and locus of control and the relationship between them on adolescents of urban and rural groups who consume two different types of drugs (marijuana and cough syrup). The aim of the study is to investigate the disparities in loneliness and locus of control indicators among different drug-using groups. This research study examined the relationship between loneliness and locus of control of marijuana and cough syrup addicted adolescents. This study aims to find out the loneliness and locus of control of marijuana and cough syrup addicted adolescents in Madhepura, Saharsa and Supaul districts of Northeast Bihar.
The sample consisted of 60 marijuana and cough syrup addicted adolescents. To achieve the objectives of this study, Dr. Anand Kumar and Dr. S N. Srivastava and Praveen Kumar Jha questionnaires were used. Comparative analysis was done on marijuana and cough syrup addiction in the samples on the basis of area of residence, in which descriptive and correlational approach was adopted to examine the data obtained. The analysis of the study shows that there is a negative correlation between loneliness and locus of control. Based on the findings obtained, it is found that there are significant differences in the health of marijuana and cough syrup addicted adolescents, despite this there is no statistically significant difference in loneliness and locus of control between marijuana and cough syrup.
