Medicinal use of Hibiscus sabdariffa L.

Abstract: The utilization of herbal extracts and dietary supplements for treating diseases is well-documented in different cultures like Ayurveda in India and traditional Chinese medicine system. There is a growing trend in using medicinal plants as natural antimicrobial agents.
Hibiscus sabdariffa L. (Malvaceae) has been traditionally used for its diuretic, mild laxative, and therapeutic properties for cardiac and nervous system disorders in folk medicine. In this article, we have highlighted some recent research on the diverse benefits of this plant.
