Sita the Shuru: Interrogating the politics of the portrayal of Sita in a feminist rereading of Ramayan by Nabaneeta DevSen
Author(s): Rituparna Chakraborty
Abstract: In this article, we have deconstructed how Dev Sen starts with the character Sita, raising feminist themes to talk about bigger themes of gender, power, and identity. How the essay deconstructs the portrayal of Sita through the words of Dev Sen, her perception of patriarchal myths, and agency over a new feminist narrative helps in establishing her contribution towards feminist thought in Indian Literature.
