The pharmacological relevance of nutrient-enriched crops in dietary interventions

Abstract: Nutrient-enriched crops have emerged as a transformative solution to address global malnutrition and diet-related chronic diseases. These crops, enhanced through biofortification, agronomic practices, and genetic engineering, offer increased levels of essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and bioactive compounds. By integrating nutrient-enriched crops into dietary interventions, significant progress can be made in combating conditions such as anemia, osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes. This article provides a detailed exploration of the pharmacological relevance of these crops, their role in improving health outcomes, and their potential in reshaping global food systems to achieve sustainable health and nutrition goals.
