The impact of collaborative learning on enhancing speaking skills of college students

Abstract: Collaborative learning has gained increasing attention in the field of language education, particularly for its potential to enhance spoken English skills and overall learning experiences for college students. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the benefits, implications, and future research directions related to collaborative learning in spoken English classes. The benefits discussed include improved language proficiency, increased motivation, enhanced critical thinking skills, and the development of collaboration competencies. The paper also explores the implications of collaborative learning for both educators and college students, offering practical suggestions for maximizing its benefits. Recommendations for future research focus on examining the impact of different collaborative learning activities, the role of technology, individual and cultural factors.
