Analysis of space diversity beam steering microstrip BTS antenna system for 3G and 4G

Abstract: In this paper, a microstrip BTS antenna system using a beam steering antenna scheme with a transmit diversity is presented. The proposed antenna can move its beams toward the target, i.e. the highest user density location within its serving cell. The scanning angle is calculated using the direction finding system. Performance of this antenna system is compared to sector beam antenna systems. With this antenna, high speed communication, shaped beams and high gain can be achieved.
