Abstract: The present study was conducted in the classified forest of Yapo-Abbé to assess the impact of logging on the natural regeneration of the main species commonly marketed, through their spatial distribution and their natural regeneration potential. The methodology adopted is the surface survey in different biotopes constituting this forest (secondary forest, managed forest, replanted forest and fallow). As well, 200 plots of 10 m side squares have been installed and inventoried through these biotopes. The results showed fairly good natural regeneration for 20 main species commonly marketed in this classified forest: 18 species in the secondary forest, 10 in the managed forest, 11 in the replanted forest and 9 in the fallows. This juvenile flora is dominated by Heritiera utilis and Pycnanthus angolensis, especially in fallows and the replanted forest. The important natural regeneration of these two species is linked to the high density of their seedlings. It is particularly low for two other species, Lophira alata and Terminalia ivorensis, thus giving them the status of endangered species in this forest. The study showed that the natural regeneration of the main commonly marketed species is quite good in the Yapo-Abbé classified forest. It will be more so if the exploitation of the main species is carried out in a rational way.
