Abstract: Maize is one of the most consumed foods in all regions of Côte d'Ivoire because of its nutritional qualities. It is all the more important that in most regions of Côte d'Ivoire, the farming populations are growing it not only for family consumption but also for national and international trade. This is the case of the rural populations of Napiédougou who have opted for maize cultivation since independence. This culture, which has long contributed to poverty reduction in this locality, is now experiencing difficulties to the point where the population has lost interest despite the risk of provoking a local food crisis. The objective of this study is to analyse the obstacles to maize cultivation in this locality of Napiédougou. Thus, on the basis of a qualitative study, an interview guide was sent to 50 respondents obtained on the basis of saturation. At the end of this study, it emerged that the obstacles to maize production in Napiédougou are the result of socio-economic and environmental factors.
